Don’t go by trend – your clothes need to fit you properly.. the FIT is crucial!

When choosing a garment, we tend to get excited when we see something that we love. The colour, the style… it is just what you are looking for.
However, what you need to think about is the FIT!
Susan is wearing a beautiful red blouse, she is going by some of her rules for her body and style preference, but is following the trend and not thinking about one of the most important things.. the FIT.

The blouse is way oversized, making her look larger than she actually is.

Look at the green blouse, can you see the garment fits her so much better. She looks slimmer!

Check out all the things in your wardrobe… the FIT is crucial. If your clothes do not fit you properly, you will feel uncomfortable , you won’t enjoy wearing them and sadly, you are not making the best of yourself.  You probably later on, will decide to buy another top because of this, so wasted your money!

10 basic style tips to clear and organise your wardrobe

A New Year wardrobe – a fantastic time to be motivated and have a big clear out, resulting in a beautiful, organised, minimalistic capsule wardrobe.

The question is where to begin!  I can hear you screaming and panicking, not knowing what to keep, what to get rid of, what works for my body and style and finally, not knowing how to put it all together.  Well, if it makes you feel better, we all feel this way.  It is so overwhelming building the perfect capsule wardrobe; it takes time and knowledge, to get it right.

So many of us, hate shopping.  Not knowing what to choose, what suits us and what colours work together.  Nothing tends to fit us properly, so we either go home with nothing or buy some random piece which doesn’t work with anything else or sits in the wardrobe with the label on; sound familiar? Hardly any of us are happy with our bodies; our confidence being affected massively.

Well, I am here to help!  Below, are some fab tips on what you need to do, before creating a perfect capsule wardrobe.  I have provided some basics to help you shift your mind set into positive thoughts.

So, are you ready to begin again?!  Let’s go!

  1. Organisation

The first thing to do, is to put all your clothes into piles on the bed.  Knitwear, trousers, skirts, t-shirts, dresses etc.

Bring all your shoes out, and put them into neat sections with flats, heels and trainers.

2. Condition

To have a good look, you need to have clothes that are in good condition.  Wearing tatty, beaten up clothes is not the answer.  Look at your garments carefully.  If they have holes or are worn, faded, stained in anyway, then put into a pile to throw or charity.

This includes going through your shoes.  If they have turned up toes, totally soleless, scratched or full of mud, get rid of them!

The garments that are right, use good quality wooden hangers and shoe trees in shoes and boots, to keep the shape and take out the moisture, keeping them fresh and good condition.

3. Comfort and Fit

One of the most important things on a day to day, is to feel comfortable. If you don’t feel this way, you won’t enjoy wearing your outfit, and it will seriously, affect your day.

You will know the garments that feel uncomfortable to wear as soon as you put them on. This could be the fabric being too stiff or itchy.  It could be the fit is too tight? It could be the other way, and the garment is too baggy, which bothers you. Go through and clear them.

If you have gained weight for whatever reason, what you need to ask yourself is, am I going to lose that stone?

If the answer is yes, then great.  When you have reached your target, then go out and purchase clothes.

Be honest with yourself!  If you are not going to lose the weight, that is fine.  Be happy with your new size and ensure that you have pieces in your wardrobe that fit you well and flatter your shape.

Don’t forget your shoes.  They are the hardest item to get right in your wardrobe.  If they feel uncomfortable, whether they are too high or they rub or cut in the wrong places, or just generally uncomfortable to wear, then give to friends, sell to a dress agency or give to charity.

You will never want to wear shoes, if they are uncomfortable.

4. Colour

Colour is key.  Wearing the right colours, especially around your face will make you look younger, fresher and radiant!  Remove all the colours from the piles of clothes that do not work for you.  By doing this, you will notice that your outfits will work together more successfully.

Also, having colour in your wardrobe and wearing colour will make you feel so much better within yourself.  Be brave, and start introducing some colours that you haven’t worn before.

If you are thinking, what colours suit me, then a colour analysis would be the answer!

5. Up to date

One of the problems I see in people’s wardrobe, is there is always clothes, shoes and accessories, that have been in there since the 1980s.  My clients give me a great tale of when they wore it and get a little excited.

If you would like an up to date modern wardrobe, you have to move on!

  • You are not at uni anymore.
  • You are not in a corporate role anymore, so why have all those clothes in the closet?
  • The dallas look with the wide padded shoulder pads is no more!
  • Shapeless trousers with the large, low waistband is not going to look good on anyone.
  • Are you saying to yourself I have had that necklace since school?

Having modern, classic pieces in your wardrobe is going to make you look fresh, young and modern.  I am sure, we all want that!!

6. Fear

If you have been good and achieved numbers 1-5 WELL DONE!!

This is great, you have done so well.  Give yourself a pat on the back.

You might have experienced many emotions whilst clearing your clothes. Some of my clients feel a failure that they did not get it right or have spent so much money on clothes that were not right.  When I first started doing this exercise, I felt the same.

I need to say that this is very normal to feel this way.  You need to remember, that you did not know!  If you haven’t had the education of what to do, then you cannot achieve the perfect capsule wardrobe.

You can now turn this round to a positive and clear out the old and start with the new you!  It feels fabulous when you get it right.

7. Memories

There will be clothes that you have in your wardrobe that mean something.  Maybe, from a loved one, funeral or wedding.  This is not going to be part of your day to day wardrobe.  A suggestion is to put these clothes in a memory box or in another wardrobe with a suit cover so they will be protected.

8. Other

You will have other clothes that again do not take part in your main capsule wardrobe. This could be gym wear, walking gear, gardening or cleaning.  These clothes can be put somewhere nice and tidy away in a drawer or another part of the house.

9. Visible

The amount of wardrobes I have gone into that have 4 garments on one hanger or hidden shoes and scarves or areas that you cannot get to.

If you cannot see the items, you will not know that they are there so you won’t be wearing them.

When you put the pieces that are right, back into your wardrobe, ensure that they can be seen.

This will also make it easier when mixing and matching your garments.

10. Style

Probably, in your wardrobe you will have a collection of clothes that are different styles.  The reason why we find it hard to put an outfit together because of the mismatch of styles that do not work together.

This is one of the most important things to get right and will make a massive difference to your clothing choices in the future.

The basics I am going to help you with, is to ask yourself some questions:

  1. Do I like to look classic, tidy and smart?
  2. Do I like to feel comfortable, casual and unstructured?
  3. Do I like to look girlie, frilly and feminine?
  4. Do I like to choose things that are a little different?
  5. Do I like to look sporty?

Whatever the answers are to the above (you can have 2 choices), this needs to relate to your clothing choices that are going to be correct in your wardrobe.

  1. = Classic  2. = Natural  3. = Romantic  4. = Dramatic  e) = Sporty

Classic, Dramatic Style Preference

For example: I am Classic, Dramatic

I like to look tailored, smart but have a little drama in my outfit and my overall look. The clues are with the cashmere classic jumper, leather trousers and my hair style.

I now know that my choice of garments need to be smart and classic, as well as having a little drama in them.  This could be in my jewellery, shoes, styles, colour and prints.

The main thing to understand is YOU HAVE TO BE YOU!  Don’t copy anyone else’s look, (unless they are the same as you) which could be a celebrity.  I love the look of Olivia Palermo.  She has the same body shape as me and style, which then works.

Go through each item and put back in your wardrobe the garments that are your correct style.  You will then notice that there is a theme going on, that you will naturally feel pleased about and feel comfortable with.  Every item that is in there, you should look at it and love it!

The aim is to STICK TO IT!

I do hope you have enjoyed my tips on how to clear a wardrobe.

Here is an example, where I did all the above for a client.  She came to me to and had an in-depth training on colour and style, that was personal to her.

At a later date, I then blitzed her wardrobe a couple of times, took her shopping and completed a perfect capsule wardrobe that was right for her.

Here we have all the correct colours, a classic, natural style preference.  All the garments work for her in the day and evening and match perfectly.

This is what Clare had to say.…. “I used to despair when choosing clothes . . . Nothing really fitted me, so many were colours that were wrong and the styles were a bit of a mish mash.

Now, it is a pleasure to open the wardrobe and see beautiful clothes hanging on the rail. Now, I have colours that suit me, styles that make the very best of my figure and there are so many combinations from just a few well chosen clothes.

I have a confidence that I haven’t had in years.”

If you would like to understand your body, colouring, and to find out where you are going right and wrong, then do look at my packages to see how I can help.

The above applies to men and women.

Make 2019 the year of change – New Year New You

New Year New You – do you really want another year of dealing with those horrible, anxious feelings when you have to face the task to clear out your wardrobe, knowing what to wear and how to put it together?

Feeling sick, having to look at the shops online and in the high street trying to choose the perfect outfit that makes you feel good and confident but not knowing where to start or what to do?

To have the confidence to be able to do this, is very hard.  We all have too many clothes in our wardrobes and there is so much choice in the shops – without the knowledge, it is pretty impossible!  It also doesn’t help with how we feel about ourselves – how are we going to look good if we don’t feel confident with our bodies and who we are.

After listening to so many of my clients, I feel this stems from childhood.  I am sure you remember other children looking attractive, having the perfect hair, make-up and being the coolest kid on the block.  The older we get, this stays with us and niggles away at the back of our heads, coming back with vengeance in certain situations, making us feel that we want to crawl in a ball and disappear.

However, as a young child, we need to remember that we were never taught the basics in self-care, what hair style suits us, understanding our bodies or our unique colouring – nothing about our DNA!  We should not expect to know the knowledge of image.

To be able to project ourselves in a positive way for people to take us seriously, to like and trust us – we have to go out there and let others see that we look the business, but most importantly, feel confident inside!!

To be the best we can in our personal and professional life is knowing our talent and being unique inside and out.

To not let these niggly excuses get in the way of others seeing how wonderful we really are.  We all feel the same in wishing we could look better – but showing off our assets and looking amazing, opens up a huge exciting world.

Results from a few of my clients…

“Thank you for your consultation with me.  You were so sensitive and encouraging.  I think you have a real gift for the work you do, helping each of us re-kindle confidence and enthusiasm in what can be a vulnerable area of our lives, often kept very private.

Thank you for helping to re-awaken a more playful and engaged connection with my appearance !”  Anonymous client

What is an Image Consultant

What is an Image Consultant?

An Image consultant help people make the best of their own personal style and Image.  They explain, in detail, the colours and styles that suit the individual’s personal colouring (in terms of hair, skin tone and eyes) and body shape.  They also offer services such as wardrobe weeding, personal shopping and styling.

They help people with their personal and professional Image.  Clients come to an Image consultant because they are in a phase of transition and are looking to improve themselves in some way.  This could be related to a career move, to find a soulmate, improve their confidence, separation, bereavement or, to up their game at work.

An Image consultant work well with organisations.  They provide workshops and help individuals with personal branding, professional image and impact, non-verbal communication and brand alignment.

What is an Image consultant and why does it matter?

When I get asked what I do for a living, it can go several ways:

  1. The person looks at me blank – has no idea what an Image consultant is.
  2. They come across, looking and feeling confident that they do not need an Image consultant.
  3. Feel totally embarrassed, thinking they are going to be assessed and wish that they made an effort.
  4. Look at me as if they are not bothered. Tell me that they didn’t have time to do their hair and threw on baggy black clothes, because it is smart and that will do.
  5. Assume straight away that a stylist only works with the rich and famous. An elite service that they cannot afford.

Well, let me explain what I do and why it matters.  I have a passion for helping people look and feel good and becoming more successful.  I genuinely believe that all of us need to see an Image Consultant.  We all should be educated to understand who we are, what to do and how to look good.

Once we have the basic skills with how to make the best of our hair, skin, colouring and body shape, it becomes so much easier.  The skills that you are taught will be with you for the rest of your life.  It will be a huge asset to your personal and professional life.  Your confidence will fly, having a positive effect on your well-being.

How much does looks or physical appearance matter?

It matters a lot.  As humans, we are inclined to judge others by their physical appearance, as visual information is the first thing we see when we meet for the first time.

We are told that ‘appearances can be deceptive’ and not to ‘judge a book by its cover’.  And yet, we cannot help making on-the-spot judgments about people based on what we see.

How you look is incredibly important, now we are in the age of digital communication.  In seconds, your image can convey so many things, such as success, status, character, personality, and of course style. Whether you like it or not, people will formulate an opinion about you before they even know you, solely based on what you are wearing and how you carry yourself.

An image consultant will help you match your unique self on the inside, creating an image that you want to present to the outside world.

Simply put, an image consultant will help you to create a positive brand and a strong professional image.

Who says shopping in Exeter is limited?

It has been the busiest year with taking people shopping. Men and women wanting to have clothes in their wardrobes that they can wear with confidence, that fit them, enhance their bodies, show off their amazing colouring and their unique personality.

This is an area of expertise that I have mastered and enjoy very much.  Finding the perfect garment, shoe or accessory is like winning the lottery.  How one thing can change a person for the better is something that you cannot describe.

Without hesitation, I would normally take my clients to Bath, Bristol and London for more choice.  However, this is sometimes not practical for my client, so more recently have been shopping in Exeter and have been surprised at the things I have found.

My aim always, is to take clients shopping to places that they have not been in before.  It makes the day more interesting and encourages them to come out of their comfort zone.

Here are some places that I would like to share with you that I have been impressed with….

The idea of this particular shopping trip was to find some pieces for my client’s Autumn/Winter wardrobe.  Coats, knitwear and trousers and jewellery were priority.

Jigsaw – High street and John Lewis

A modern, contemporary brand that suits a lot of women’s classic/natural style with good quality, fabric and colours.

If you would like to modernise yourself, then this shop is definitely worth a try.

Here we picked up some mid grey jeans, that worked with her colouring and other pieces in her wardrobe.

A great fit, slight stretch and mid rise.

Finisterre – 57 High Street, Exeter

This is a shop that I have been walking by for ages.  You need to go in and have a look.  When you understand the brand and their values, you appreciate how excellent the clothing is.

A shop for men and women that caters well if you are an outdoor person wanting warm, practical clothing that will protect you against all weathers.

My client does a lot of hiking and needed a lightweight waterproof coat with a hood.  I was so impressed with the staff’s product knowledge.  They knew every detail about the garment, which is very rare, sadly in the retail industry.  The companies I trained with back in the 80’s, were insistent you knew everything about the product/brand before assisting clients; this to me is very important.

I kept asking questions, and the lady answered everyone with confidence.  They even have a wash and reproof service to maintain the coat at little cost.

I also like the fact that the director started the company in Cornwall and the head office is still based there.

As well as my client’s needs, I am also looking for the best colour to make her look young and fresh, ensuring the coat is the correct length, the cut and fit works for her body shape, and aware of her proportions and height…. Perfect!

Crystals – 14 Gandy Street

A hidden gem that I always look in.  This is a place where you need to have a good eye to pick out that amazing piece to finish off your look.  They have lots of unique stones in all different colours and shapes which is very interesting.

For my client, I was looking for an angular, medium sized stone, based in silver with a gemstone that was soft and muted to go with a lot of her outfits.  After asking, they brought out a box of hidden pieces; I found just what I was looking for.

A beautiful labradorite stone…. a unique statement piece.

As you can see from the photo, a wonderful one off that my client now wears all the time.  She wore no jewellery before, due to lack of knowledge and no how.

The most important thing when working with a client, is to find out who they are.  This takes a lot of practice, however, when you have it, it is gold!  Once you have this mastered, you can go anywhere and find something, that is them to a tee.

Orvis – Barbour Outlet Cathedral Close

Another shop that my clients have walked by.

So many people say to me…. but there is nothing out there that fits me.  Where do I go to find….

Well, you need to go in to these places and take a look!

On our list was a lightweight jacket that had to be stylish for day wear, modern, classic and simple.

Everything was perfect for my client, she looked great.  Even better, upstairs in the section of Barbour, it is an outlet, so was a good price.

An excellent quality classic that will never date.

I also saw a gilet in her size and colour.  This is a great piece to wear now for the in between weather that keeps your body warm, but not too hot.

Something that she would not consider, but after trying, absolutely loved it.

Whilst my client was purchasing her coats, looking with my beady eye, what did I find…. 1 pair of blue moleskin trousers in her size in the sale!!

The fit is fantastic.  My client’s original jeans were old fashioned and not a great fit.  She has a great figure, and needs to show it off.  So many people wear jeans and a jumper.  They desperately want to get away from this, but they don’t know how.

Moleskin trousers are beautiful, classic, different and warm, which works well in the chilly days.  I liked them so much, after doing an online shopping for the missing pieces, I found the same trouser on line in another soft colour that will go with the ideal capsule wardrobe.

Edinburgh Woolen Mill – Cathedral Close

Yes, this shop sadly is still dated, but has good priced cashmere jumpers with unusual different colours and necklines.  Marks & Spencer is not only the place for cashmere.

I was looking for a beautiful v-neck cashmere jumper with a fresh colour to liven up her winter wardrobe.  Again, I found it!

This blue is fantastic against her skin tone and her gorgeous blue eyes.  It also matches well with the barbour coats above and other items in her wardrobe.  I love it!

While I was there, I found a wonderful cashmere scarf with a modern check with colours that worked with the coats and the jumper.  Not only is the check on trend this season, but also complements her angular facial features; what a find.

John Lewis –

It is brilliant now that we have a modern department store in Exeter.  Sometimes, I just shop here with my clients, find what I am looking for and do not have the need to go elsewhere.

Yes, I agree with the majority, I so wish there was more stock in each concession, but it is worth shopping here.

We were wanting a trench coat.  This can be worn in the day for a more stylish look, but also can be worn to see clients for a more corporate feel to meet my client’s needs.

There are so many styles of trench coats, which can be tricky.  As my client was very classic, she wanted a coat that was very plain, hardly any detail, but also was not too bulky with lots going on.

With the above information, Hobbs, ticked the boxes.  Usually, I would not choose this colour for clients, as it does tend to wash out skin tones.

However, the more we looked at the colour; it was right. It had a minky, pink tone to it, which worked so well with her cool brown hair and the french blue tones and grey with clothing.

My client has a straight body shape and is 5ft 5inches tall.  The coat is the correct length, the fabric is right for her body shape and purchasing a classic white shirt finishes off the classy look.

Well, I hope this information has opened your eyes when shopping in Exeter.  We had such an amazing day and found some great items for the much needed capsule wardrobe. They all work together, and will last my client a long time and will not date.

If you want to hear what my client has said with working with me, take a look.

This will also make it easier when mixing and matching your garments.

By doing the above, will help your mind feel less overwhelmed before getting to the stage of knowing your colours, style and body shape. We all need to do the above twice a year, for our clothes and wardrobes to be updated and fresh.

Here is an example of the end result. This is a process and takes time.  I have worked with Clare for quite a few months before we got to this stage.  Clare did the above to begin with.  We then worked on her style preference, colour, and understanding her body shape.

I helped her blitz her wardrobe a couple of times, took her shopping and completed a perfect capsule wardrobe that was right for her.  Here, we have all the correct colours, styles and style preference.

The next stage of your capsule wardrobe is to inject colours that are right for your skin tone, hair and eyes, then look at your clothes and keep the ones that project your style preference.  We are then looking at your body shape.

style consultation and wardrobe weed/capsule wardrobe

I’d been dithering about making an appointment with Maggi, since I first met her several years ago:  I was tired of my wardrobe, knew I was in a rut style wise, but I was busy, so many things to do…and time went on.

Then earlier this year I realised that not only time was going on, but I was getting older and beginning to feel I looked very ordinary.  My old confidence about my dress style had quietly left me.   So at last, I contacted Maggi.

I enjoyed the initial assessment of my body shape and style personality -  interesting and very helpful.  Then the wardrobe sort out… I tried everything on, and Maggi discussed, what was right and wrong with the garments… colour, style, fit or was it really me?!  Maggi was a strict disciplinarian; the morning was great fun!  She left me with suggestions for the gaps in my wardrobe, including shops, and websites too.

A couple of weeks later Maggi returned to help me put together outfits for my holiday which I found really helpful.

Now I have fewer clothes, but I’m wearing more of them: no longer reaching for the same old things most days, despite having a wardrobe crammed with clothes.

My experience with Maggi was very worthwhile. My interest in clothes refreshed; more confidence in expressing my style.

corporate/personal branding – make over

Working with Maggi has been a fantastimg_1128ic experience, her knowledge and expertise in her profession immediately put me at ease from our first meeting. I was looking for an image consultant to help me with defining a brand image for myself and also my business, something that would flow between the two instead of having two separate wardrobes.

I have been running my own business for several years and although I predominately work from home, on the days I do go networking or to a client office, I often felt awkward in the clothes I was wearing and young. That may sound strange, but when trying to sell and promote my business I need to look and feel confident and mature. People need to believe that I have enough years experience to deliver what I say I can.

Before working with Maggi I loathed shopping, I would leave feeling frustrated, disappointed and often with an even bigger body complex because clothes wouldn’t fit or would look odd. I often panic bought and the garment would then sit in my wardrobe for that elusive ‘one day’.

Yesterday I went to a meeting wearing the new clothes that I bought with Maggi during our shopping trip and I felt amazing even before I left the house. I felt confident and stylish, I definitely had a spring in my heels! I now have a greater awareness of colours, fabrics to avoid and cuts that would look flattering on my body shape. I am embracing my new found classic natural style and love how Maggi’s advice covers not just clothes, but also bags, shoes, jewellery, make-up and hair.

Working with Maggi has been an invaluable experience and I actually feel excited about shopping to finish getting my capsule wardrobe in place.

Treat your mum with a make over on ‘Mothers Day’

Being a mum is the hardest job in the world. It is a major challenge being responsible for the physical and emotional demands of another being. As a mum, your world is now shared; life is not your own anymore, it moves quickly, erratically and is very unpredictable within each day. There is never enough time, however you try to hold onto it.

It is natural to sacrifice yourself over your children and put their needs first. Sadly, by doing this, your identity and confidence disappears, losing yourself and forgetting who you were before having children.

As a mum, it is very important to get some ‘me-time’. By taking time in the morning, styling your hair, putting on make up and choosing an outfit, will make you feel good for the day ahead and boost your confidence no end. This will also have an positive effect on the way you are around your children as well as being a good role model.

So come on mum’s – don’t blend into the background! Show yourself off!

Allyson’s story…

Allyson is a working mum.  The before picture is a classic look I see a lot.  Relaxed, natural and comfortable. The easy beachy look- but does it show off Allyson’s gorgeous figure, colouring and personality?

Getting to know Allyson, she wanted to look classic and natural but didn’t  have the confidence, time, funds or knowledge of how to do it. Allyson simply, needed guidance to achieve a basic classic look, which is very easy once you know how.

BEFORE

Hair – When you have a small head and thick hair it can easily take over the face making it disappear. The first thing you should be seeing is her beautiful face. The hairstyle can be improved to look more edgy to show off her angled features.

Make-up – Allyson could spend 10 mins every morning putting makeup on to look sophisticated and to enhance her lovely large eyes.

Outfit – The outfit chosen is not good quality and is not a great fit. The fabrics chosen are not enhancing Allyson’s rectangular body shape, therefore, not looking her very best.

AFTER – Wow, it’s amazing how classy you can look once you know how.  Now you can see Allyson’s fabulous figure. The whole outfit came from the high street which suited her budget. Every piece of clothing is a must for every wardrobe, that will never date. A good pair of jeans, blazer and basic tee. To enhance Allyson’s colouring, i put a soft pink scarf close to her face – (the in colour this spring season!)

To finish off, I gave Allyson a more updated hair cut and applied makeup to enhance her colouring, also making her look more sophisticated.

Allyson now feels more confident within herself. She makes an effort daily and is excited to show off her amazing long legs, that she never knew she had.  Lucky lady!!

She is definitely a ‘yummy mummy’

IMG_7652A SHOPPING TRIP is a great way of finding amazing pieces that everyone needs to create a perfect capsule wardrobe.  The majority of us have little knowledge of what is needed for our wardrobes, resulting in wasting money on the same things and usually not showing off our amazing bodies.

There are lots of things that I am looking for when I go shopping with a client:

STYLE PREFERENCE this is your branding/Identity – to make sure I am going to the right shops that work for you.

What are the clothes for? i.e. coffee with friends, dinner parties, work wear etc

Above we see Tessa in an amazing SILK SHIRT from Tommy Hilfiger.  We all need a gorgeous silk top.  This can look fab in the day with jeans then change the bottom for smart trousers for an evening look. The colour is great on Tessa’s cool colouring and something she didn’t have in her wardrobe.

IMG_7649Beautiful quality KNITWEAR is a must for everyone’s wardrobe.  I am looking for the:

  1. Style – simple and classic
  2. Colour – off white to match natural colouring
  3. Cut and Length of the jumper – straight cut, hip length to balance the length of the body.
  4. Scale – medium weight
  5. Neckline – v-neck to reduce bust, also working with Tessa’s facial features.

This jumper can be worn layered in the winter and carried through to the spring/summer.

I love this french blue CASHMERE tunic jumper. I chose this for Tessa because: IMG_7658

a) a classic modern design which will never date

b) love the colour – looks great with her eyes

c) the straight cut shows off her fabulous shape and fits her really well

d) quality cashmere – lovely and warm

e) found this at Marks & Spencer – surprising what you can find when you know where to look

STATEMENT jewellery is one of the most  important pieces in a wardrobe.  It has so many positives for women.

1. If you have any areas of the body that you wish to hide.  Draw the eye to an amazing statement necklace.

2. A necklace finishes of a garment – gives you that polished look.

3. Enhances our facial features.

4. It is a way to show off your personality.

Ensure that you wearing the correct style for you, colour, shape, size and the correct position to sit well in your body.

IMG_7666SHOES are the most difficult thing to find for women.  As we get older – we cannot wear heels.  With the problems we face with our feet or our toes, high uncomfortable shoes are a no no!

We want to feel comfortable and be able to wear a small heel that will work with the majority of our clothes.  The two photos I have chosen are perfect.

Small kitten heels give that elegance needed to work with dresses, skirts, jeans and trousers.  I chose these beautiful grey/blue shoes that work with Tessa’s soft colouring.  The colour will go with Tessa’s outfits and be worn in day and evening.  The pointed shoe also complements Tessa’s straight body.

These shoes are a great find.  I like the simple, classic design.  The navy shoe mixed with the blue suede shoesblack bow works with killer evening trousers worn in navy and black.  The pointed toe again is correct for the straight body.  They have some softness to them and the magic wedge heel is high enough to feel like you are wearing a heel, very comfortable and a classic design that will never date.

I found the shoes at www.tedandmuffy.com

All the shoes and boots are in narrow, standard and wide fitting.  How great is that!

So, you have now seen a few things that I feel are needed for a ‘capsule wardrobe’.

I have so many men and women that are stuck in a rut and really would like some help in knowing where to start in improving the way they look and feel.  If you feel ready to come out of your comfort zone and want to look the best version of yourself then book a shopping trip!  You will love it or may be like Tessa hint to your husband as an idea for a present!
